1-Minute Pre Run Glute Activation Drill

Your glutes are arguably the most important group of muscles in your body for running. They stabilise your hips and pelvis, they help to support your posture and keep you upright, and they propel you forwards - allowing you to run.

Our modern lifestyle with too much time spent sitting, means that most people have "lazy" glutes. Too much sitting makes us more prone to using our hip flexors and quads, and less likely to use our glutes properly.

You can help to recruit your glutes more efficiently by performing some simple activation exercises immediately before you start your run. The whole routine only takes 1 minute so there is no excuse not to do it.

Watch the videos below to make sure you master the technique of each of the three exercises in this drill.
