Nutrition can, and will, make the difference between a terrible day and an amazing day in your endurance event. The more you can learn about fuelling your body the better.
- What should you be drinking - water or electrolytes?
- How many grams of carbs do you need per hour?
- Should you be eating any fat or protein during a race?
- What types of gels work best?
Race nutrition can seem more like an art than a science. There are a lot of good scientific principles you can apply, but what works for one person won't necessarily work for someone else, so it is something you have to practice in training. Try a bunch of different options if you can, it is always useful to have a back up option during a race, so the more different sources of nutrition you have, the better.
