Tarawera Ultra Trail Training Plan

Your Tarawera Weekly Program Will Guide You On How To Build A Strong Race Body... And Remain Injury Free

The Tarawera Ultra-Trail New Zealand by UTMB is a stunning event!

The epic scenery, trails, and atmosphere make this an event not to be missed.

With four distances to choose from, the 21km, 50km, 102km or Miler, there’s something for every trail runner.

Whether you are a first timer or ultra-enthusiast, we have a plan for each event aimed to guide you every step of the way.

So you can train smart all the way to race day.

Runners often enter events,  get over-excited, train too hard,  get injured, or peak too early.

To avoid overdoing it ... or underdoing it, the best way to approach your training is with a detailed training plan and our personalised online coaching advice.

The Tarawera T21 Race-Specific Program is 12 weeks long and the 50km, 102km and miler are 16 weeks long.

All are specifically designed to help you achieve your Tarawera 2025 personal goals.

When I joined my average pace for a 5km race was 6:53 min/km with elevation gain of 53m.
I recently did the 50km Coastal Ascent and my average pace was 6:55 min/km with elevation gain of 1454m.
Not bad I reckon!  So, thanks again for your plans!

What a fantastic resource of knowledge.
I have been working on my running technique and the difference is substantial.
I have never had metrics on garmin that look so good.

Andrew Milne

Thanks Mark so much for your guidance throughout the last three months.  I surprised myself on my second trail race ever placing 16th female and a time of 2hrs 25mins in the 22 course.
